Paul Lawrence

Born and raised in southern Wisconsin, adopted by Minnesota and Iowa, Paul has performed his original folk-country-blues on stages from Minneapolis to Taipei. Back in the USA after twelve years in Taiwan, Paul is excited to share his new songs with English-speaking audiences. Paul's music ranges from folksy ballads to bluesy boot-stompers, all while consistently delivering exceptional vocals and finely crafted lyrics.

Paul grew up surrounded by music; his mom played the organ at church and everybody was always singing. He has been influenced by classical, gospel, blues, country, rock & roll and traditional folk music. Recently, he was particularly moved by the indigenous singers of eastern Taiwan. All of these sounds filter through Paul's dynamic tenor voice.

Paul's album, "A Dance on the Dust We're Bound to Bite" was recorded and produced in St. Cloud, MN, with the the help of folks like Jake Manders (The Pistol Whippin' Party Penguins) Gretta Hunstiger (The Dead Pigeons), Lucas Fischer (Poor Man's Ridge, AcoustiHOO, Rhythm Posse), Nick Foytik (The Nick Foytik Band) and John Hammond of Hammond Media Productions. 

 Paul’s new album, “Taiwan Winter,” was recorded at NeonBrown Studios in Crystal, MN, and features a dozen of Minnesota’s best folk and Americana musicians. 

This album is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature's general arts and cultural heritage funds.
